It’s hard to even think about – but for some people who recovered from Covid-19 months ago, it’s their reality. You don’t know how much you miss smelling things, tasting foods, till you can’t.Imagine not being able to drink water, stomach the scent of your shampoo or even have sex with your partner because they smell “like sewage and rotting flesh”. I’m taking turmeric as someone else suggested and also plan on ordering the DHist for any future allergies, and just giving my nose time to heal. I politely took the prescriptions, but have no intention of getting or using them.
Funny thing is I went to my favorite family doctor a couple days ago (I decided why go to the ENT who suggested Flonase and would most likely defend it), and guess what, he defended it too! He said it was the allergies that caused me to lose my sense of smell and suggested I continue using Flonase and also told me to use another OCT spray (NasalCrom 2 x a day) and a prescription one (Astelin). I never had a problem smelling before, even when I had severe allergies. That’s when I put two and two together about Flonase being the cause. The problem is that my sense of smell went completely away too. which is still in line with the doctor’s orders of two puffs in each nostril once a day. I attributed the smell loss to the allergies, so in early January, I started using Flonase twice a day. My allergies were getting much better, but my sense of smell was going in and out during the day (50/50). So I got the generic Flonase in December and started using it once a day (one spray each nostril). I remembered my ENT a couple years back suggesting Flonase (two sprays in each nostril once a day). I was having sneezing attacks that were pretty bad this past December.
Here in the Deep South, our winters are much like fall for others.
I have seasonal allergies which are usually in the winter. This is why I believe Flonase caused this:
